The Older People’s Team is looking for enthusiastic, motivated Social Workers who enjoy working with older people to join our supportive and well-integrated health and social care team. You will undertake a range of tasks including planned assessments, adult care support plans, care home reviews, AWI meetings and support families and their loved ones at difficult times in their lives.
The team provide a service to all service users over 65 years across Midlothian. The work of the team is varied and underpinned by a person-centred approach and, alongside good assessment skills, requires a working knowledge of the theories for intervention. The work involves multi-agency liaison and the ability to establish effective working relationships across the Health and Social Care Partnership, partner agencies and 3rd sector organisations such as Vocal and The Red Cross.
A degree in Social Work and registration with the SSSC as a Social Worker is essential a Diploma in Social Work with SSSC registration as a social worker is an acceptable alternative.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £41,802.34 per annum.
Requirements
This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.
Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Protected Adults and Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
