We are looking for an enthusiastic, and caring individual with an interest in breast screening to join our team.

Due to the current national guidance on Health Promotion within Breast Screening, this opportunity is open to female applicants only. This provision applies under the Equality Act 2010 (and an equality impact assessment has been completed).
Main duties of the job
1. To undertake mammography screening and associated duties to a high standard at the Lancaster Breast Screening Unit and its associated mobile and static mammographic facilities.
2. To assist Consultant Radiologists, Consultant Radiographers, Advanced Practitioners and Mammographers in non-radiographic tasks that ensure the timely delivery of the various breast clinics.
3. To prepare sterile/nonsterile trolleys unassisted for various procedures i.e. sterile procedures and biopsies and assist with the procedure.
4. To input accurately patients' details, using the radiology computer system, and PACS.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

We provide both a well-woman screening service (NHSBSP) and a busy symptomatic imaging service. The North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Service invites around 117,000 women every three years for screening. The service has two mobile units, as well as three static sites at:
* Westmorland General Hospital
* Furness General Hospital
* Mobile Screening Van which rotates around the Blackpool, Fleetwood, Preston, Lytham and Poulton le Fylde region.
Successful candidates will travel across Lancashire and South Cumbria in close proximity of the scenic Lake District.
We are well equipped with new GE Pristina and 3D Mammography sets, with stereotactic biopsy capabilities.
Whilst the role would be based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, there would be a requirement to work across all screening sites to meet the need of the service.
The role will also entail providing a symptomatic imaging service.
Candidates are very welcome to arrange a visit to our Breast Unit to discuss a potential move into Mammography.

Education
* NVQ 3 in Diagnostic or Therapeutic Support (or equivalent)
* Evidence of training in healthcare setting
