The opportunity
Given recent and forecasted project growth, our client is currently seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to become responsible for maintaining a safety first approach to the project delivery by driving all HSE support and strategies.
Location – Macclesfield, Cheshire- You will need to be within commutable distance to the Macclesfield area.
Salary between 45-55k plus car allowance (usually circa £5k)
The role
As the HSE Advisor, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the business and client project H&S requirements and the company's H&S strategy to provide targeted and pro-active H&S support within the Macclesfield area.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
1. Assist the project management teams in the implementation of the company's and Project H&S requirements and objectives.
2. Support and advise Project delivery teams on planning and implementation of the company's H&S Management system, strategy, and objectives.
3. Provide H&S support and advice to the projects to ensure a structured risk-based approach.
4. Conduct site audits and inspections and ensure these are also undertaken by the project management team and supervision.
5. Liaise with customer H&S representatives and attend meetings/forums as required.
6. Ensure, assist and support the investigation of accidents, incidents and near miss events to determine root causes and preventative measures to prevent re-occurrence.
7. Facilitate H&S specific training and awareness programmes.
8. Assist and/or lead (where required) external H&S audits.
9. Provide input to the development of the following: H&S Management Systems, Processes and 45001 accreditations; External award programmes e.g RoSPA, ECIA etc.
You will have the following qualifications and experience:
1. Good personal planning and organisation skills.
2. Proven track record of influencing and motivating teams to meet and exceed objectives.
3. In-depth knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation.
4. Knowledge of insurance legislation and practice.
5. Understanding of construction industry and construction processes.
6. Familiarity with QA systems and compliance.
7. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, professional and personal presentation skills.
8. Excellent HSE legal knowledge and practical application.
9. Competent in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
10. Professional, personable and results focused.
11. High level of employee focus, business pragmatism and understanding.
12. Team player who knows how to build and sustain relationships.
13. Customer focused.
14. NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum).
15. Member of IOSH.
It's great if you also have the following:
1. NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
2. Experience of development and delivery of HSE training.
3. Additional relevant skills and qualifications in any technical area.
4. Experience in highly regulated industries (oil & gas, pharma, process, nuclear etc).
5. Excellent written, verbal, negotiating and influencing skills to enable effective communication at all levels within the organisation, with clients and specialist advisors.
6. Working towards CMIOSH.
