The role
As a Senior Planner within the Water Quality Policy Team, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert guidance and innovative water quality models to support the successful delivery of water company investment programmes. Your technical expertise will directly inform the development of key policies, programmes, plans, strategies, and guidance for Natural Resources Wales (NRW). This is an excellent opportunity to influence and shape water quality standards while collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, including colleagues from across Evidence, Policy & Permitting (EPP) and Operations, officials from the Welsh Government, water companies, and sector representatives.
In this role, you will take a leadership position in identifying water quality modelling priorities and spearheading the delivery of technical assessments. Your work will be integral to informing policy and permitting decisions regarding water company discharges, ensuring that Wales natural resources are managed sustainably.
You will be part of the Water Quality Policy Team within the Water & Nature Group, a key unit within Natural Resources Management Policy. Although your team is dispersed across Wales, you will enjoy the flexibility of hybrid working arrangements, balancing the opportunity to collaborate in person with remote working options that suit your lifestyle.
As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.
Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.
Successful external applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) check. We aim to make offers of appointment within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date.
