James Walker are looking to recruit an Apprentice Administration Assistant at our UK Cockermouth site.

The Position
This role will be based at the Cockermouth Manufacturing Business Unit in Cumbria on a fixed term contract. The full-time working hours are 35 per week (day shift) and the annual salary is £17,431.95 per annum.
Key responsibilities
1. Providing a prompt meet and greet service to all visitors and contractors whilst performing reception desk duties.
2. Ensure all visitors sign in and out and issue visitor badges, health and safety information, and relevant PPE.
3. Maintain the visitors log book for evacuation purposes.
4. Ensure all visitor arrivals are communicated to the relevant people promptly and that all visitors are met or escorted to the relevant room/area in a timely fashion.
5. Provide assistance for meeting room and transport booking/cancellations as required and liaise with relevant parties to ensure the delivery of a professional service.
6. Ensure meeting rooms, break out areas, and service points are clean, tidy, and ready for use at all times.
7. Check, read, and action all incoming emails.
8. Operate the switchboards ensuring all incoming telephone calls/enquiries are answered promptly, in a friendly and welcoming manner.
9. Liaise with caterers to organise any requested lunch bookings and cancellations.
10. Work closely with JW sister companies performing order entry, sending order acknowledgements and updates.
11. Carry out other administration related duties and assist in other appropriate tasks wherever the opportunity arises.
12. Undertake any other reasonable request from management.
Experience/Qualifications:
1. GCSE’s or equivalent in English and Maths.
2. An NVQ in Customer Service or Business Administration would be preferred.
3. Previous experience of working within an administration/customer service role would also be preferred.
4. The ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels including customers both verbally and in writing.
5. The ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
6. The ability to be adaptable and flexible.
