MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A TEACHING ASSISTANT Teaching Assistant support for Pupils: Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupilsTeaching Assistant Support for Teachers: Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' work Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will beQualifications needs as a Teaching Assistant: Essential: Good literacy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in English Language; Level 2 English or above; or equivalent Good numeracy skills- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths; Level 2 Maths or above; or equivalent Desirable for a teaching assistant: An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalentIf you would like to be considered for this teaching assistant opportunity, please send your application and if successful we will contact you with full information about the role and the school.
