What skills and experience we're looking for
A degree in Maths or equivalent.
Qualified Teacher Status
Evidence of commitment to own professional development.
Teaching across the age 11-16 age range in training or in post;
Excellent classroom practitioner;
A keen interest in developing teaching and learning within your subject area;
A good understanding of planning and assessment techniques;
The ability to create a stimulating learning environment;
High expectations of self, colleagues and learners;
Good communication skills.
Recent relevant in-service training;
Evidence of independent research/reading on education and /or learning.
Teaching across the 11-19 age range;
Evidence of high achievement in teaching;
Working effectively as a form tutor;
An understanding of Assessment for Learning.

This is a unique opportunity for a teacher of Maths with computing to join a growing UTC.
The ideal candidate will have an excellent knowledge and understanding of Maths and computing. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students, equipping them with the skills and characteristics needed to ensure they are at the front of the queue for the best apprenticeships and university places. At the UTC we are mindful of staff workload. The maths and computer science faculties have a fully resourced curriculum and workload reduction is considered within our policies and procedures. This role is suitable for ECTs currently training, recently qualified ECTs or experienced teachers.
The curriculum and facilities are designed to meet the needs of the local labour market. As well as providing students with a high level of skills, the curriculum is our specialisms of Engineering and Health Sciences underpins the learning in the main STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), providing our students with the skills our local business partners require.
The UTC curriculum and ethos enables students to become confident and independent through active and experiential learning. The UTC day mirrors that of the workplace, and we have created a high-level engineering and health sciences professional environment where relationships are at the heart of everything we do.
