Job summary An exciting post has arisen for a successful applicant to work across our two hospital sites between the Elective Orthopaedics Suite at the Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence, and Trauma and Orthopaedics at Pinderfields General Hospital. The post is 34 hours per week (working pattern to be agreed). The successful applicant will work as part of a highly skilled and specialised team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Technical instructors who provide outstanding pre and post operative assessment and treatment to those planning elective orthopaedic surgery or traumatic injuries 7 days a week. The team also support lower limb amputees both experiencing new and existing limb loss in their journery to maximise independence and safety. Main duties of the job The main duties of this role include supporting patients to ensure the best supportive care is in place prior to orthopaedic surgery, implementing the necessary equipment, delivery of information and guidance pre op and highlighting any anticipated interventions that may be necessary post op and actioning these efficiently to facilitate a timely discharge. Post operatively, the post holder will be expected to carry a caseload and provide a high standard of assessment and treatment, with quality clinical reasoning skills to ensure person centred goals are met to maximise patient independence and safety as part of their ongoing rehabilitation, recovery and discharge from hospital to home. The trauma, orthopaedic and amputee team is a dynamic and supportive team whereby teamwork and excellent interpersonal skills are required to meet both patient centred care and team objectives.
