Cleaning operative Salary and grade: Grade 2 £12.78 per hour Duration of role : Permanent Hours per week: Part time, 21.5 hours per week Location : Public conveniences at Thame (Market House and North Street), some flexibilityrequired to cover other locations within the two Districts Closing Date: 13th February 2025 About the role and what we’re looking for Job purpose The aim of the cleaning team is to ensure that all public conveniences are maintained in a safe condition, the facilities that we manage are run efficiently, are clean and that we ensure customer service and best practice are given priority. The role of the cleaners is to undertake cleaning of the South and Vale public conveniences, to ensure a comprehensive cleaning service is provided in compliance with local procedures and service standards, agreed working practices and Health and Safety Regulations Two public convenience sites in Thame are the main base for this role, however, flexibility is a required to cover other sites within the District during holidays/sickness Main duties and responsibilities • Perform cleaning duties as per a schedule in a professional manner and to the standards expected by the Council.• Ability to work agreed shift patterns• Maintain records of areas cleaned• Awareness for Health and safety, COSHH (Control of substances Hazardous to Health), safe handling and use of cleaning materials – training will be provided.• Dealing with and reporting faults, as required• Carry out minor repairs such as replacement to toilet roll holders• Unblocking toilets, removal of graffiti where possible• Re-stock toilets with consumables• Dealing with members of public in a professional manner• Unlocking and locking of Public Conveniences• Being proactive with a view to resolve issues found and communicate effectively through the appropriate channels.• To report all accidents, incidents, and injuries to any persons in the toilets at work, no matter how minor About you Your essential skills, knowledge and experience • Minimum one year’s experience of working in a similar role• You must be able to read safety information on cleaning materials to ensure the safety of yourself and others.• Good health and safety awareness with regard to cleaning equipment and materials• Willing to contribute ideas that will improve the service• Ability to work in a team as well as alone• Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work (business mileage can be claimed as per travel and expenses policy at 45p per mile).• A good understanding of hygiene requirements It would be great if you had: • BICS (British Institute of Cleaning Science) qualification The benefits we offer • A basic 25 day annual leave per annum, rising to 30 days after five years.
