How you'll make a difference
You are instrumental to the Transport team in arranging school transport for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Many children require the support of passenger assistants on the journey, which also needs to be arranged. These are vital for the child to be able to access their educational establishment and for the parent who is putting their child on our vehicles.
As a Client Transport Business Administrator Apprentice, you will support the council’s Integrated Transport Unit in all aspects of their role, such as transport arranged for children attending mainstream schools, councillors to attend meetings, patients going to day centres, respite transport for both children and adults, and college transport.
What you will be doing
* Working alongside our experienced staff, you will assist them in providing a front-line service, giving an initial response to customers via telephone, email, and in person.
* Daily, you will learn how to communicate directly with all agencies involved, including parents, schools, contractors, passenger assistants, social services, and the council's education department.
* You will have the opportunity to learn how to make routine arrangements for meetings and other bookings, such as planned events.
* Day to day, you will provide general admin support to arrange transport with passenger assistants.
* The most important aspect of your apprenticeship role will be arranging transport in a timely manner, taking all requirements into consideration, such as ensuring the correct vehicle is procured if a passenger requires a wheelchair accessible vehicle, including any car seats or supporting harnesses they may require.
* Throughout your 18-month apprenticeship, we will allocate you a workplace mentor to give you guidance and support in completing your Level 3 Business Administration. This course requires a weekly day release for 10-12 weeks of learning at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College, Filton Avenue, Bristol, BS34 7AT.
What we need from you
* All candidates that successfully reach the interview stages will be required to provide a 10-minute presentation as part of the recruitment process. Candidates who do not provide a presentation at interview will not progress through the recruitment process.
* Interviews will be held on 18th and 19th March 2025.
* College attendance requires weekly day release learning for 12 weeks at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College.
* This is an 18-month limited term contract.
* The salary for this apprenticeship is set at the current Age National Minimum Wage:
Age Hourly rate Annual salary
21 + £11.44 £22,071
