We are seeking an experienced and operationally strong General Manager to lead our client’s globally recognised company specialising in the design, development, and installation of advanced sensors and monitoring equipment for the Aerospace, Oil and Gas and Defence industries, based out of their head office in North West Devon. As the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in steering the strategic direction, operational excellence, and business growth of the site, ensuring the delivery of cutting-edge solutions to national and international clients. This position demands a strong blend of leadership, technical acumen, and business insight to drive innovation, manage cross-functional teams, and maintain our client’s reputation for excellence in a highly competitive and dynamic industry. The primary objective of this role is to drive margin improvement, optimise resource utilisation, enhance the efficiency of manufacturing and design processes, and elevate the overall operational effectiveness of the head office site. Additionally, the role aims to transition towards a more matrix-oriented organizational structure. This position entails full autonomy and profit and loss (P&L) accountability across two companies within the global group. Further details: 3 to 4 days on site per week (1 to 2 days working from home) Up to £120K base 20% bonus travel costs BUPA car allowance Managing a cross functional team incorporating direct and dotted line responsibility for circa 80 to 90 people on site Essential requirements for the General Manager: Previous experience as a Director, General Manager, or equivalent Strong operational background (KPIs, processes, supply chain, focussing on getting better margins, ensuring resources are being used efficiently, tech is right, structure, driving efficiencies, metrics and controls are in place) Manufacturing background Experience of managing a P&L Strong people management skills, communication skills, dealing with change Nice to have skills / experience for the General Manager: Experience of a highly regulated industry (aerospace, oil and gas etc) Aerospace exposure / working to AS9100 standards Experience either working with electronic products or complex mechanical parts Working with multi-site, global sites within a group Multi lingual If you feel you are suitable and interested in this role, APPLY NOW with an up to date CV.
