Summary: Deliver high-quality care to residents with nursing needs, promoting independence, equity, and inclusion, while utilizing technology to ensure consistent and sustainable services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Take responsibility for resident care, delegating tasks to care workers and ensuring adherence to the NMC Code.
* Undertake assessments and work with residents, families, and advocates to advise on procedures and changes.
* In the absence of senior staff, be accountable for overall care home management, ensuring safe working practices and excellence in care.
* Familiarize yourself with Cullum Welch Court Policies and Procedures, cascading and interpreting information for the team.
* Enable good communication within the care team, promoting a culture of mutual respect and monitoring care documentation and staff practice.
* Promote resident wellbeing, security, and safety by walking the floor and engaging in care, ensuring timely reporting of changes in condition.
* Raise awareness and educate the care team on supporting individuals with dementia, promoting independence, and managing behavioral issues.
* Maintain good communication with families, GPs, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care.
* Work with the Deputy Manager to scrutinize incidents, accidents, and events, taking measures to prevent reoccurrence and documenting lessons learned.
* Be responsible for the Health and Safety of staff and residents, ensuring incidents and accidents reports are completed and submitted.
* Manage medication safely and appropriately, in accordance with Cullum Welch Court Policies and Procedures.
* Collaborate with the Deputy Manager to improve the quality of services, safeguarding high standards of care.
* Be responsible for medication competency assessments of Care Leaders and Senior Care Workers.
* Monitor the physical, psychological, and social care needs of specific residents, their wellbeing, and personal preferences.
* Participate in an ongoing programme of tailored and meaningful activities.
* Undertake mandatory and legislative training.
About You:
* Registered with NMC as RN1: Adult nurse, level 1 or RNA: Adult nurse, level 1.
* Bachelor's degree in nursing or health-related subject or equivalent experience.
* Postgraduate Certificate in Palliative Care.
* Minimum 24 months post-registration experience in a hospital or community setting.
* Teaching and mentoring qualification or equivalent experience.
* Minimum of 12 months experience as medication management/competency assessor.
* Able to evidence completion of continuing professional development, with a focus on evidence-based practice.
* IT literacy specifically Microsoft packages and EMIS.
