Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time nurse to join the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) nursing team within a Gastroenterology Specialist Nursing role. Following training and supervision from the Senior IBD Specialist Nurse, you will work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) in both outpatient and inpatient settings to provide evidence-based care and support for newly diagnosed and existing IBD patients. There will be an opportunity to complete an online IBD Nursing Education Programme along with other training workshops as they become available. Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis are relapsing and remitting lifelong chronic conditions where patients often require prompt support and escalation of treatment to avoid hospital admission and/or complications of their disease. The IBD Specialist Nurse plays a pivotal role in supporting patients with the physical, social and emotional impact of these conditions. The majority of the working day involves telephone review and advice to patients. Therefore excellent communication and record keeping skills are essential for this position, along with significant experience as a registered Nurse within a gastroenterology related position, and with knowledge and a genuine interest in IBD.
