The Role – Tyne Mining Legacy Project Manager Join an exciting partnership of organisations (Tyne Rivers Trust, Environment Agency, Coal Authority and catchment partners) delivering meaningful practical work to improve the water quality of hundreds of miles of river with major environmental, social and economic benefits. You will work closely with a diverse array of partners and stakeholders to deliver a programme of innovative works that continue to improve water quality while balancing the competing needs of a diverse array of stakeholders. Where possible, you will use green engineering solutions such as log barriers, leaky dams and other riverbank stabilisation techniques. However, the nature of the work means heavier engineering solutions may be appropriate, so an adaptive approach will be essential. Frequently working at highly sensitive sites that have numerous designations associated with the abandoned mines such as scheduled ancient monuments, sites of special scientific interest and special areas of conservation, you will need to work around site-specific limitations to develop innovative solutions to the challenges of the role. While the focus of the role will be tackling heavy metal contamination, there will be opportunity to support delivery of a wide variety of other TRT projects throughout the Tyne catchment as appropriate. This will provide an opportunity to broaden your skillset and work closely with our talented and highly motivated team.
