Korea Foods Company is a family-owned importer, distributor, and retailer of Korean and other Asian food. We are the largest importer of Korean food in Europe, distribute to 1200 wholesale customers, including the major multiples, and operate 14 retail shops in the UK.

***Please note that the shop is anticipated to open in February 2025. The start date for the role is scheduled for January 2025 to allow for on-the-job training at Leicester branches prior to officially commencing work at the shop location.
Contract: Permanent, Full-time, Subject to 3-month probation
Working hours: 40 - 45 hours per week, can be discussed during interview
Main Purpose and Scope of the Job:
As an Assistant Manager you will be supporting the Shop Manager in the running of the shop, and take on a leading role in the Manager’s absence. You will be expected to be self-motivated and enthusiastic, with good customer service and retail administration skills as well as the ability to work well under pressure and to meet targets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure accurate operation of shop tills, ensuring that the correct monies are received and exchanged;
2. Maintain and replenish stock throughout the store;
3. Ensure that stock is displayed in a professional and orderly manner;
4. Maintain a responsible, safe and professional manner at all times;
5. Engage and interact with all customers in a welcoming, friendly and professional manner – creating a positive and memorable shopping experience;
6. Demonstrate knowledge of the product range sold by Korea Foods Company, and when appropriate offer advice on said products;
7. Ensure the store is maintaining a safe and hygienic environment at all times through general clean as you go duties and regular housekeeping duties;
8. Provide administrative support if/when needed;
9. Be conscious of visiting customers and vigilant for any potential shop lifters, raising any issues with Store Management;
10. Any other reasonable management requests.
Person Specification:
1. Language skills of Korean/Cantonese/Mandarin would be highly advantageous
2. Valid UK working permit
3. Ability to work flexibly within a team or alone
4. Comply with all health and safety regulations pertaining to your role
5. Strong communication / customer service / organisational skills
6. Previous retail manager or supervisory experience would be beneficial
