The MT Manager is part of Motor Transport Department and sits within the Logistics Department of Royal Navy Air Station Culdrose. The MT Manager leads the Motor Transport Department which sits within the Logistics Department of RNAS Culdrose. The position will manage the MT dept. in an efficient and cost effective manner to enable the Air Station to achieve and maintain operational capability. This includes the overall management and control of MT Operations ensuring all vehicles and drivers are available for task and are regulatory compliant. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job description This post is responsible for the following key areas: Applying a broad knowledge of mandatory testing, servicing, licencing requirements and vehicle limitations coupled with MOD or regulatory specifics to make decisions based on own knowledge and subordinate technical grades advice (with reference to tech docs (TDOL) incl JSP 930 or accepted industry norms when required (Level 1, 2 or 3 repairs, taskworthy and non taskworthy)). Tracking vehicle modifications and safety notices - taking these into account when tasking vehicles and mitigating how a failure could impact outputs, ensuring resilience to any short notice changes. Providing the transport function, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective fulfilment of all customer requirements. Delivering leadership to the MT team and working in partnership with all stakeholders to ensure productivity, accuracy and that targets are met or exceeded. Planning and delivery of operational transport activities through the Transport Team Managers, to ensure the required level of service is provided. Accountability for overall productivity within the operation, ensuring that activities are cost effective and levels of resource are managed effectively. Maintaining and improving performance levels to maximise efficiency of operation in line with KPIs. Effectively motivating, managing and inspiring the MT Transport Team to develop and grow their skills and their teams skills. Analysing customer feedback/information & propose innovative ideas to enhance the overall function and smooth running of your AoR. Driving forward the continuous improvement of the operation. Working within the departmental budget to own and achieve targets set. Ensuring that all requirements relating to safety, health, environment and quality are being fully implemented. Covering the duties of the Band D MT Managers when necessary, through sickness, annual leave or gapping. On call for Blue Light Driver co-ordination and Aircraft Post Crash & Incident Management OOH. Person specification The position incumbent will need to have sufficient knowledge and experience in the conduct, management and supervision of transport activity. They will need to be self-motivated and be able to deal professionally with customers and colleagues when under pressure. They must remain versatile and have the ability to communicate with peers but also up and down the chain of command. Be able to asses a job while planning how this will best be achieved and in the most cost-effective way. Demonstrate sound judgement in order to make effective decisions between competing operational demands. Have highly effective organisation skills and computer literacy, including excellent written and communication skills.
