Join us at Barclays as a Java Developer and help us shape innovative solutions that enhance and transform our technology estate within Transaction Banking. You will work as part of a Scrum team within an Agile environment to deliver APIs and microservices. Additional collaboration with Platform teams and Lead Engineers will help define backlogs and identify the required solutions.
To be successful as a Java Developer, you should have experience with:
1. Comprehensive understanding of API and Microservice design patterns backed up by experience delivering and running the services you have built in production
2. A track record of building enterprise-scale applications using Java and Spring Boot frameworks
3. Building event-driven services using Kafka or similar technologies
Some other highly valued skills include:
1. Solid understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and software quality metrics
2. Exposure to DDD and frameworks used to deliver domain-driven applications and hypermedia APIs
3. Understanding of Cloud technologies

1. Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
2. Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
3. Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
4. Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
5. Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
6. Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
