Job Title: Gear Grinder
Location: Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Duration: 6 months contract (min)
Pay Rate: Competitive
Hours: 6am-4pm Monday to Thursday, 6am-12pm Friday
or can work 7am-5pm Monday to Thursday, 7am-1pm Friday
Our Engineering client based in Barton Under Needwood is looking for an experienced Gear Grinder. (Previous experience of Reishauer, Niles, and Pfauter gear grinding machines would be advantageous)
Role:
The role of the Gear Grinder is to grind gear teeth to drawing specification.
Key Responsibilities & Activities:
1. Use a wide range of measuring equipment to check components.
2. Write and interpret instructions and procedures to assemble equipment and products accurately.
3. Obtain relevant information from the relevant sources.
4. Control machines and processes.
5. Perform inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products.
6. Analyse information and find the best solutions to problems.
7. Maintain clear and honest communication at all times.
8. Keep the work environment safe.
9. Learn and apply the latest relevant knowledge to the work.
10. Mentor trainees/apprentices when applicable.
11. Work to and support all relevant 5S activities.
12. Report any near misses.
13. Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
14. Report any issues or problems with jobs to the line manager.
Background & Experience:
1. Minimum 1-year experience in the relevant rail or automotive industry.
2. Be practically mechanically oriented.
3. Possess good problem-solving skills.
4. Recognised engineering qualification required.
5. Self-motivated.
6. Previous experience of Reishauer, Niles, and Pfauter gear grinding machines would be advantageous.
