The Billable Works Manager is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of the annual Billable Works programme. This position demands strategic oversight, operational excellence, and client collaboration to ensure projects are completed safely, profitably, and to the highest standards.
A significant aspect of the role involves establishing and managing a high-performing team dedicated to delivering the programme. The Billable Works Manager will foster a culture prioritizing safety and customer-centric delivery, aligned with VIVO's mission and values. Leadership responsibilities include motivating teams to meet delivery targets, driving quality outcomes, and encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
Managing the programme entails overseeing all aspects of project delivery, ensuring that projects are aligned with agreed budgets, legal responsibilities, and legislative standards, including JSP regulations. The role requires developing future Billable Works programmes in collaboration with stakeholders, using asset condition information to inform priorities. Complex or high-profile projects will demand direct project management oversight, with a focus on ensuring all projects have well-defined briefs, specifications, procurement plans, and tender documents.
This position holds Profit & Loss responsibility for Billable Works, ensuring financial targets are met while maintaining profitability. The Billable Works Manager will proactively manage the supply chain to guarantee cost-efficiency and high-quality outcomes. Governance and compliance are critical aspects of the role, requiring the development of procedures to ensure safe and profitable project delivery while adhering to Health and Safety regulations, including CDM and Asbestos Control standards. Additionally, managing contractors within the framework of VIVO’s supply chain management policies is essential.
The role involves building strong client and stakeholder relationships, serving as a key liaison for DIO and other parties. Providing regular progress updates and fostering transparency throughout the project lifecycle is crucial to ensure client satisfaction and collaboration. The Head of Billable Works will also lead efforts to reduce carbon emissions during the build phase and across the lifecycle of assets, adhering to JSP 450 guidelines. Driving innovation and implementing best practices to enhance sustainability and efficiency will further contribute to the success of the programme.
What You Will Bring
The position requires a strong understanding of the Facilities Management industry (reactive and planned maintenance, Hard FM), compliance, and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office and Maximo. Demonstrated experience in budget management and delivering profitable outcomes is essential. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in managing projects and term contracts, along with expertise in addressing a variety of contract and project delivery challenges. Proven experience in managing teams and providing effective project management will be crucial for success in this role. Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships are also vital.
