About the role:
As part of this position, you will work at the intersection of data science, AI, ethics, and privacy to develop innovative solutions for integrating diverse data sources while safeguarding transparency and security in data lifecycles. This position is central to ensuring that data practices align with accountability and fairness targets.
What you would be doing:
You would be working on designing and optimizing data integration and artificial intelligence algorithms for honest computing systems (e.g. distributed ledger systems, trusted execution environments), ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and secure. This involves developing innovative solutions for blind data quality assessment or deploying differential privacy techniques, ensuring datasets are evaluated and queried without compromising privacy or transparency, always keeping the machine accountable. By integrating these advanced methods, you would play a pivotal role in building reliable and ethically sound data ecosystems. This work would require you to build relationships with all our stakeholders to understand their scientific questions and data.
What we are looking for:
An ideal candidate would combine strong technical expertise (e.g., data structures, distributed systems, algorithm design, cryptography, machine learning) with a keen understanding of privacy and data ethics. The candidate should have hands-on experience in programming and optimizing algorithms for secure, decentralized systems and demonstrate a strong aptitude for conducting innovative research. Equally important are critical thinking skills, a collaborative mindset, effective communication capabilities, and the ability to translate complex technical challenges into practical, impactful solutions that align with our commitment to honest data practices.
We will expect the candidate to have:
1. Knowledge of Data structure
2. Knowledge of Data compression
3. Knowledge of Lower-level programming
4. Knowledge of Machine learning
5. Knowledge of Data science
6. Knowledge of Algorithm optimisation
What we can offer you:
1. An exciting environment and a multidisciplinary research group. Access to cutting edge equipment.
2. Access to the largest open-source data observatory in Europe.
3. The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution.
4. Sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 38 days off a year).
