We are looking for a Catering Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join Montpelier Primary School and become an integral member of the Catering team. Our In-house Catering team is an integral part of the school's aim to embed healthier eating habits within our pupils. Our Catering Assistants deliver the highest standards of food quality and service at all times within the framework and guidelines set out by the Catering Manager.
Main responsibilities:
1. General duties in kitchen and dining room
2. Assist in the preparation and cooking of school meals
3. Assist with the service and presentation of food and beverages
4. Assist with the cleaning of kitchen equipment and catering areas
5. Attend training courses and meetings as required
6. Ensure hygiene and health and safety standards are met at all times
7. Determining any action to be taken arising from shortage of equipment and stock
8. Identification of health and safety hazards and other deficiencies in the kitchen
9. Cleaning and maintenance duties which may involve dealing with chemicals, sweeping, mopping and lifting heavy items. Manual Handling and duty specific training is provided
10. Use of equipment for cleaning and cooking appliances
Minimum requirements:
1. A good standard of literacy and numeracy skills
2. A food hygiene qualification (Level 2 or equivalent - desirable)
3. Previous experience of working successfully as part of a team
4. Previous experience of providing exceptional customer service
5. Commitment to complying with relevant regulations and legislation in relation to kitchen management, food preparation and serving
6. Ability to communicate effectively
7. Ability to show initiative and work under pressure, multi-task and manage time effectively
