We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.
About your team:
At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it. We're the household heroes powering 1 in 3 homes in the UK - but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We're making the UK's homes greener and more energy efficient, with our friends at Hive. By using their clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we're making it cheaper and easier to reduce your home's carbon-footprint. And with our new Peak Save programme, we're actively rewarding better energy use too.
About your role:
We are looking for an Enterprise Risk Manager to join our British Gas Insurance Risk Function within the British Gas Services & Solutions (BGS&S) business unit. As an Enterprise Risk Manager, you will support the oversight, challenge and embedding of the ERM Framework in respect of strategic, operational and resilience risk and control matters.
Reporting into the Head of Enterprise Risk, you will develop and manage a comprehensive risk strategy for the organisation which maximises commercial benefits while minimising risk exposure and maintaining legislative compliance, covering the risk exposure for the full portfolio of the organisation's activities/interest.
Role responsibilities will include:

* Support Home Solutions (boiler, EV, solar and heat pump installs, social housing retrofit) in a line 1-1.5 perspective helping to develop their risk culture and approach, a key growth area for BGS&S supporting customers' transition to Net Zero lower carbon technologies and social housing retrofits.
* Support the regulated Operations (contact centres, field engineers and planning teams) from a 2nd line risk oversight perspective working closely with 1st line teams and management. Processes are mature and focus will be on ensuring risks are escalated early and controls are effective. These areas cover a significant proportion of the BGS&S business unit.
* Support Centrica-wide risk and controls transformation programmes; coordinating BGS&S requirements and alignment activities.
* Support the Risk and Controls Upgrade Programme, which will support the new Corporate Governance code requirements, will require partnering with the business to identify and document key controls, undertake control deep dives, supporting the ongoing maintenance of key controls and its oversight via the BGS&S risk based integrated assurance plan and support acceleration of first line key control assurance processes in BGSS and Group Material Risk areas.
* Oversight of the management of longer term strategic and emerging risks, including development of a strategic risk framework for BGS&S (e.g. decision support / stress and scenario testing / external emerging risk horizon scanning).
* Conduct independent oversight and assurance that evidences the appropriate implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) in respect of strategic, operational, conduct and resilience risk matters and identify material weaknesses in risk management.
* Contribute to the articulation, analysis and consolidation of strategic and operational risk scenarios.
* Facilitation of the quarterly Risk & Control Attestation process working with business partners.
Here's what we're looking for:
* Experience gained working within insurance or financial services in a similar role or within a consulting environment in the relevant area of financial services.
* Experience of contributing to complex regulatory programmes of work.
