Start here. Grow here. Are you ready to help us shape the future of the water industry? Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Environment team as a Coastal Modeller today! Whether you’re experienced in this area or just starting your career, we’d love to hear from you. You will be based in one of our rapidly growing offices whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.
At AECOM, we’re at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients. These include public sector clients (UK and overseas), water utility companies, developers, oil, gas and energy companies.
This role involves scoping, developing and using numerical models of coastal processes for a range of project applications. This can include models of waves and water levels, sediment transport, or water quality to support new and existing infrastructure. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to support and/or lead a talented and diverse team who are committed to innovation and making a positive impact.
Responsibilities:
1. Undertake modelling studies for a range of projects supporting feasibility/option appraisal to detailed design.
2. Work closely with other disciplines in the delivery of modelling studies.
3. Manage parts of a project and ensure delivery of tasks to agreed budget, programme and quality.
4. Manage financial aspects of assigned project tasks.
5. Support the preparation of project budget & programme.
6. Appropriately liaise with clients, government authorities, contractors and suppliers.
Depending on your level of experience, you will either (1) have the opportunity to grow through guidance from experienced numerical modellers in the Coastal team or (2) have line-manager responsibilities and mentor junior modelling staff providing clear and consistent guidance for work carried out by junior modellers.
If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, we want to hear from you!
Qualifications:
Here’s what we’re looking for:
1. Relevant degree or higher qualification for the application and modelling of coastal, fluvial and lacustrine processes.
2. Experience in coastal modelling using one or more of the following software: Mike by DHI suite (MIKE11, MikeHydro, MIKE21/3 (HD, AD, Ecolab, SW, BW), MIKE3Wave, Litpack), Delft3D, XBeach, CORMIX.
3. Knowledge of a specific field of coastal modelling such as water quality, sediment transport, waves and overtopping assessments, harbour or beach design.
4. Demonstrable experience of working as part of a multi-disciplined team to deliver large and small projects.
5. Programming experience using either MatLab, Python or similar.
6. Joint probability and multivariate analysis.
We celebrate diversity, including neurodiversity, and believe it enriches our team. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and abilities. If you are an applicant with a disability that requires reasonable accommodation to complete the application process, please contact us.
At AECOM, we value everyone's unique contributions and perspectives. If you meet some of the requirements above or have transferable skills you believe would benefit us, we would be delighted to hear from you!
