We are looking for a Head of Futures to develop an inspiring programme that provides exceptional advice to students of all ages. This programme will expose students to varied and diverse opportunities and will equip them with the skills to make the best decisions about their own futures.
The Head of Futures will ensure Stamford students have the support and resources they need to achieve their ambitions through developing a culture of curiosity around the career pathways that are available to young people. They will also create an environment in which they can identify and pursue the opportunities that inspire them.
Position: Head of Futures
Key Responsibilities:
* Inspire enthusiasm for, and engagement with, future pathways and opportunities. Following statutory guidance, all students will leave school having had the opportunity to explore the world of academia and employment.
* Lead a team which works in close partnership with the Head (Sixth), Assistant Head (Sixth), Head of PSHE, Heads of Year and other colleagues to ensure all students understand the full range of opportunities which are available to them including academic and vocational pathways and apprenticeships.
* Manage and develop the programme which must be coherently planned, embedded in the curriculum and age and stage appropriate.
* Lead the organisation, coordination and management of all future pathway / careers events, including a biennial Futures Fair.
* Develop the School’s work experience programme to provide extended work placements for Stamford students and move to make it a compulsory part of a student’s Stamford experience. Ensure students have multiple opportunities to learn from employers about work, employment and the skills that are valued in the workplace.
* Provide excellent, impartial guidance on future pathways that helps students to progress, empowers them to plan and manage their own futures, responds to the needs of each individual student, provides comprehensive information and advice, raises aspirations, and actively promotes equality of opportunity and challenges stereotypes.
Requirements:
* Careers Leader Qualification, or a willingness to study for, at a minimum of QCF Level 6/7 as recognised by the CDI (Careers Development Institute).
* Experience of supporting students across the full 11-18 range.
* Experience of successfully organising a careers programme across the age and ability range, setting standards and providing a role model for students and other staff.
* Command respect and credibility through the discharge of their duties and use their expertise to influence others in relation to their subject.
* Have high expectations for students, setting realistic but challenging targets engendering students who are enthusiastic and highly motivated to continue with their education beyond school.
* Experience of interviewing, guiding and supporting students on careers-related issues.

This is a term-time position (34 working weeks per year + 10 days).
