The ideal applicant will have experience working on a busy yard with competition horses, be conscientious, reliable with high standards of care, and turn out. You need to be competent with a calm manner have good people skills, be able to work within a team with a polite, cheerful attitude. Duties include: Mucking out Turning out Tacking up Exercising Feeding Assisting with young stock Handling and care of competition horses Helping with Livery clients/ horses Assistance and training to clip, turn out to a high standard to become a top groom on the International circuit. Hacking horses. Desired Skills and Qualities Previous experience and confidence handling a variety of horses is required and must be shown on application Friendly Reliable Motivated The ideal candidate will help with general yard duties, and attend competitions. The candidate must be able to plat, clip, and turn out to a high standard. Desired Qualifications English and maths GCSE’s, or equivalents, are desired. Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in Horse Care to be eligible for a level 2 apprenticeship. Future prospects Potential future employment for the right candidate if a suitable role is available. Progression on to Level 3 Senior Equine Groom. Training Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship. The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and onsite visits throughout the apprenticeship. The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
