Due to continued growth, the position of Procurement & Supply Chain Manager has become available to join our successful team based in Heathrow.
As Heathrow embarks upon its 7th regulatory period “H7”, Costain was awarded two lots as Major Project Partner and Asset Renewal Partner for Terminal 2 – The Queen’s Terminal.
The role of the Procurement and Supply Chain Manager is to contribute to the development and deployment of direct category strategies for group business needs, whilst also managing the end-to-end subcontract procurement process and act as a trusted procurement counsel for project stakeholders.
The successful candidate should also be comfortable with all aspects of post–award Supply Chain Management, should as a minimum have a basic level of carbon literacy and should have a working knowledge of the NEC3 or NEC4 suite of contracts.
They should have a natural and likeable approach with stakeholders of all levels from the sectoral Heads of P&SC to other Procurement Managers, as well as key members of Project Teams.
The selected individual will be responsible for ensuring that the sector P&SC strategy is deployed and implemented, balancing and optimising both the operational requirements of our projects and the strategic goals of our Group.
They should have impeccable stakeholder management skills, be a proactive team player with a solution-focused mindset.
1. Delivering Procurement (Pre-Contract) & Supply Chain Management (Post-Contract) across their sector, providing direction and support in the process. This will include collaborating seamlessly with the pre-construction estimating team and the post-award commercial team under our One Team, One Costain vision.
2. Ability to utilise the procurement process to enable Early Contract Involvement (ECI), guiding the team on the decision-making criteria including, but not limited to, the identification of suitable supply chain, the maturity of the design information, the preservation of commercial tension, the likely benefits of early engagement, and the opportunity to secure scarce resource.
3. Project management and procurement to deliver our category strategy requirements. Project management of subcontract framework procurement activities, delivering predictable best-in-class outcomes which enable the project team to meet all key dates and milestones, whilst delivering high forecast accuracy.
4. Management of procurement activities via the project Procurement Event Schedule (PES).

Role Requirements
1. Minimum 3 years’ experience of working in a similar level role.
2. Operational Procurement & Supply Chain skills relevant to the construction industry.
3. Familiarity with NEC forms of contract.
4. Experienced in leading supply chain engagement, e.g., leading meet the buyer events, chairing procurement meetings and negotiations.

6. Having integrity by always doing the right thing in the right way.
7. Must be customer-focused by striving for excellence through understanding, anticipating and meeting their needs.
