The Leadership and Governance Advisor will work in Cote d’Ivoire to support the ASAP II project, which is aimed at strengthening the capacity of local implementing partners (LIPs). The consultant will be responsible for conducting leadership and governance assessments and providing tailored coaching and capacity-building support to LIPs’ executive teams and their boards of directors. Key responsibilities include enhancing board governance, strategic leadership, risk management and compliance, performance management, and organizational sustainability.
The consultant will also offer technical assistance and training to ensure effective governance and leadership practices within the local partners' structures.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Conduct board skills matrix assessment and facilitate board member self-assessments to identify gaps and training needs.
* Review and update board charter, terms of reference, structure, and compliance procedures.
* Conduct training on effective board management, roles and responsibilities, board structure, financial management and compliance, risk assessments management, performance management, and leadership.
* Establish and enhance board subcommittees to meet compliance standards and best practices.
* Provide support in strategic planning and resource mobilization.
* Provide one-on-one coaching to individual board members.
Desired Experience / Expertise
* Master’s degree in Business Management, Psychology, Education, Public Health, or other business or health-related field.
* Must write and speak both French and English fluently; strong French speaking and writing skills essential.
* 10+ years of experience in leadership and coaching for non-profit executive team members or programs.
* Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders, local partners, host country governments, and international donor agencies—especially USAID.
* Excellent organizational, writing, and oral presentation skills; proficiency in Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other web-based communication platforms; strong training and presentation skills.
* Experience as Chief of Party or Country Director will be an added advantage.
