Responsibilities We are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join our high paced volume manufacturing facility. This role is based in the United Kingdom, on site at our Redditch Plant. We are seeking an individual who will drive improvements in cell efficiency, utilisation and production productivity using Lean Manufacturing techniques to deliver World Class cell performance. Specific Responsibilities Include: NPDI and process evolution. To reduce process variability, increase product quality and reduce costs on manufacturing process through the use of Lean Manufacturing and other relevant techniques as appropriate To work with cell team members to continuously improve cell efficiency, utilisation and production productivity To conduct process capability and Value Stream Mapping studies to identify improvement opportunities in conjunction with the quality engineers To constantly review and improve cycle times and changeovers whilst maintaining quality output To conduct process trials and evaluations in conjunction with the quality engineers To develop production SOP’s and support training of cell operatives in their use To continuously review and monitor Cell Layout to ensure the most efficient process flow. Manage any identified changes as and when required To identify, prioritise, manage and deliver continuous improvement initiatives in line with world class manufacturing to include the development of automation and multi person machine ratios To assist in the management of the process within cellular areas of responsibility. Carry out analysis, identify root cause and implement corrective and preventative actions. To identify root cause of quality and line stop issues and put permanent fixes in To develop, set and audit 5S and housekeeping standards in conjunction with carrying out internal audits in relation to the Quality Management System and Health, Safety and Environment Systems To champion and manage specific improvement projects to deliver Quality, Cost, Delivery and People Objectives To manage, review and update Key Performance Indicators daily, weekly and monthly, ensuring measurement is relevant and accurate Not exhaustive list and additional tasks may be required to achieve operational demands. Qualifications Education: HNC or bachelor’s degree in mechanical/production engineering. Experience and Background: Minimum 3 years of experience in Engineering. Must have at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment Experienced in the design of tooling and fixtures for heading, forging and machining operations Experience of metal forming or metalworking processes (heading, hot/cold forging, thread rolling etc.) Understanding of developing processes and routings for the most efficient way of manufacturing of bolts and screws
