Job overview
The Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is nestled on the outskirts of the vibrant city of Norwich. We are excited to share that we have a full time opportunity for Band 2 Healthcare Assistant / Theatre Support Worker within our Theatre team.
We are a brand new stand alone Paediatric Theatre Complex, comprising of 2 elective theatres and a 6 bay PACU (Post anaesthetic care unit) area.
Main duties of the job
* Moving patients between wards, Theatres and Recovery departments.
* Assisting in the care of the surgical patient during the peri-operative period by supporting the multidisciplinary team.
* Supporting the Theatre personnel in providing a safe, high quality environment for the carrying out of surgical procedures.
* Prepare and set up theatre prior to theatre list.
* Assist the safe transit of the patient to and from the ward and between areas within day theatres, before and after surgery.
* Ensure all documentation is recorded accurately, legibly signed and dated in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
Person specification
Qualifications
* General education to GCSE Maths and English Grade A-D (or equivalent).
Experience
* Experience of working with people/a team.
* Previous health/social care support worker experience.
Skills
* Can follow instructions and learn procedures.
* Able to work well in a team.
* Flexible, adaptable and responsive to change.
* Caring and compassionate with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
