We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic Palliative Medicine Consultant to join the North Wales specialist palliative care team.
This is a permanent role within the Palliative Medicine department. The appointee should have previous general medical experience and will work with the senior and junior medical staff and clinical nurse specialists as part of the Specialist Palliative Care Team, to support both community and hospital inpatient services in North East Wales. This is a full-time position, of ten sessions per week, based with the team in the Maelor Hospital, Wrexham.
Opportunities exist for those keen to pursue research and education/teaching interests via well-established links with Bangor University.
Through working closely with colleagues, the post holder will be expected to further develop palliative, end of life and bereavement care services in North East Wales. There is potential for flexibility within the Department, depending on the post holder’s individual interests and experience.
The post holder will provide a consultant and advisory service role working within the integrated (hospital and community) statutory East SPC team. They will advise colleagues on patient management, including closely supporting the CNSs and the Hospice at Home nursing teams in the East area. The post holder will have the support of specialty doctors and specialty trainees in palliative medicine on rotation.
