An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Healthcare Assistant (AHCA) to join the ever-evolving Children’s Specialists Community Nursing team in Scunthorpe.
The position will involve providing high quality nursing support to children and their families in their own homes. You will also be supporting the specialist nurses with their clinics
We are a hard working friendly and approachable team of paediatric nurses, AHCAs and admin staff working in the community providing nursing and palliative care for Babies, Children and Young People across a variety of settings within the community including their own homes. We are committed to providing care to babies, children and young people within the community setting and have vast knowledge and skills to do this.
We will offer support and training required for this role. The hours available will be spilt between two post holders
The paediatric AHCA is a member of a community nursing team who undertakes duties in relation to patient care and nursing team administration, in the community setting.
Duties will be assigned by and carried out under indirect supervision of a registered nurse, according to the individual patient care plan. Duties include discussion and reporting of any changes in patient’s condition to the registered nurse on a daily basis. You will need to undertake assessments of needs and care support with enteral feeding, gastrostomy cares, nasogastric cares, venepuncture alongside emotional support for patients and their families. Training and support will be provided.
Where additional skills training is identified as required by job description, the post holder will not undertake these duties until training has been undertaken (except as part of the supervised learning experience)
Duties within the job description will be delegated by a registered nurse and the position of AHCA is ever evolving and developing within the team and encompassing ADHD respiratory epilepsy and complex care.
