Due to the planned retirement of a valued school leader, we are seeking a dynamic, highly-motivated educational professional for the role of Deputy Head Teacher in our Early Years School. We're looking for an inspirational classroom practitioner with proven understanding and experience of the Early Years/Primary learning process, and the necessary skills required to provide effective leadership and management support to our Head of School. This is a full time position (1 FTE). Start date is September 2025.

Roles and Responsibilities :
* Support the Head of Early Years in leading and managing the Early Years team
* Assume Head responsibilities in the absence of Head of School
* Lead school assemblies
* Develop & maintain positive, professional relationships between the parent body and Early Years team
* Contact point for staff absences; arrange supply cover to maintain staff ratios
* Lead/contribute to monitoring & evaluation of provision of the Curriculum
* Contribute to evaluation of teaching & learning quality standards, and implement improvement plans
* Provide support & guidance to staff
* Encourage a culture of innovation, continuous improvement & best practice
* Contribute to promotion of spiritual, moral, social & cultural development of pupils
* Monitor & promote good progress for pupil groups
* Make informed decision-making to drive improvement & pupil progress through effective use of data
* Ensure efficient & effective internal & external communications
* Participate in agreed professional development and review structures
* Liaise regularly with individuals and teams in other school sections.
* Assist with administration of budget, ensuring resources are effectively managed
* Conduct supervision & staff professional development meeting
* Maintain current knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, national curriculum (England), and other relevant UK government requirements (and associated Dutch equivalents), to ensure compliance
* Support the development of digital literacy & learning initiatives, ensuring effective integration of technology to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment practices
* Liaise with Admissions & Marketing team, administrative & technical staff
* Work effectively within the policies and procedures of The BSA, including contribution to policy development
* Assess, monitor and communicate risks & response strategies
* Lead on school functions including assessments, pastoral care, behaviour management, parent liaison etc,, in consultation with the Head of School
* Attend school meetings and functions as/when required
* Attend fortnightly meetings with Head of School and Admissions team, to review enrolments, changes to Nursery sessions, class allocation, management of waiting lists, new pupil induction etc.
Consistency of educational practice
* Assist Head of School in maintaining a stimulating & high quality environment through appropriate displays and effective organisation of resources
* In conjunction with the Head of School, continuously evaluate & review school systems to ensure fit for purpose
Leading the development, monitoring & evaluation of the Curriculum
* Lead curriculum innovation and effective development of learning leaders
* Ensure Learning Support & EAL provision is effective
* Review Medium Term Plans with year leaders to ensure quality and consistency
* Develop exciting & effective strategic plans for learning
* Manage the development of the Early Years timetable
Teaching & Learning
* Model excellence in the classroom
* Take on a teaching commitment to meet the need of the school, where appropriate and as directed by the Head of School
* Facilitate peer-to-peer observation and collaborative learning
* Monitor consistency and quality across Early Years and Key Stage 1
Rights & responsibilities of the pupils
* Maintain strong commitment to well-being & safeguarding of pupils in the school
* Promote high standards and expectations of pupil behaviour
* Work with Year Leaders to develop school wide leadership responsibilities for pupils including PSHE programme
Essential experience, skills & qualifications
* University degree and recognised teaching qualification
* UK-qualified teacher with minimum three years' UK teaching experience
* Further professional development & training (e.g. Masters / NPQH / TeFL/ CELTA)
* Middle leadership experience (Year Group Leader, Curriculum/Subject Lead, etc.)
* Experience of leading and managing a team
* Experience of curriculum management for Early Years School & Key Stage 1 (KS1)
* Experience of working across the Primary age range
* Experience of working with children with SEND and /or EAL needs
* Current knowledge of best practice in teaching and learning
* Current knowledge of UK initiatives in Primary education
* Experience of managing a budget
