Location: This role can be based in London, Salford, Birmingham Mailbox, Bristol or Cardiff. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.

This role is based within the HR, Learning and Resource Scheduling Team within the Corporate Systems department, which sits in the Technology and Media Operations division. In this team, there are 3 primary disciplines; project management, product management & business analysis. This team delivers technology projects, continuous improvement & technical support for a variety of systems & applications that are used by employees across the BBC group.
Main Responsibilities
As a Senior Business Analyst within Corporate Systems, you’ll play a key role in modernising and simplifying the current Systems landscape within HR, Learning and Resource Scheduling technical products and platforms. The role of the Senior Business Analyst is to work closely with business stakeholders, suppliers and technical delivery teams both internally and externally, to ensure that the BBC’s investment and the solutions delivered provide benefits.
1. Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and drivers and confirming objectives and priorities.
2. Accurately articulating user, business and technical requirements, (both functional and non-functional) to ensure all requirements are valid and traceable, contributing to a business case and solution delivery.
3. Collaborate and interact with multi-disciplined teams to ensure there is a clear understanding of the change that is being proposed and why.
4. Demonstrating strong communication skills to adapt messaging appropriately, ensuring processes, needs, approaches, and outcomes are clearly understood.
5. Build and maintain good business relationships with all stakeholders and new contacts, to develop business system and domain knowledge and share across the team.
6. Advise on the implementation of strategy and identification of technical options within business areas, using research information to inform and drive business decisions both short and longer term.
7. Acquire, document and maintain knowledge of existing business processes and systems to identify areas for potential process improvement.
8. Identify business risk and issues; detail business impact creating mitigation plans, include any handover or operational early life support for a smooth transition.
9. Work closely with Project and Product Management teams, providing updates and pro-actively seeking to remove task blockers to facilitate business or technical decisions in the BBC’s best interest.
10. Work with business areas to define business benefits, creating benefits maps and introducing measures to baseline, track and report progress against targets, to measure performance and value.
Essential skills:
1. Degree in Business Management, Enterprise IT, other relevant field or equivalent experience.
2. Thorough knowledge of business and data analysis tools and techniques such as requirements engineering, structured analysis and design, process mapping and component business modelling, business process re-engineering.
3. Communication skills - both written and spoken - using a variety of methods; the ability to get the message across and relative to the audience.
4. Manages professional relationships, listens, encourages discussion and promotes two-way communication.
5. Comprehensive knowledge of technical product management and development methodologies, underpinned by strong software design principles.
6. Experience of leading and delivering Business Analysis disciplines as a Senior Business Analyst in a technical environment and project lifecycle delivery.
7. Ability to simplify complex problems, processes or projects into component parts and to explore them systematically.
8. Strong and effective planning and organisational skills; able to juggle competing priorities and take the appropriate course of action.
9. Resilient and able to take input and deliver on a task; works on own initiative; can direct others.
10. Ability to effectively manage professional relationships and stakeholders at multiple levels of an organisation.
Desirable:
1. Entry Certificate in Business (ECBA) Level 1 and/or Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) Level 2 or equivalent experience.
2. British Computer Society Certified Business Analysis Professional (BCS CBAP) or equivalent formal qualification in business analysis.
3. Problem solving, with both tactical and strategic thinking.
4. Workshop design and facilitation.
5. Commercial focus, proven influencing, negotiation and conflict management skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
6. Considerable experience gained within a media or similar multi-national organisation.
7. Subject Matter Expert or experience in resource scheduling.
