Based in Doncaster, our Bentley Works Facility provides a huge range of manufacturing, engineering, and maintenance services, using specialist equipment and precision tooling. The facility provides the main hub for internal piling and foundation equipment.
We employ a multi-skilled team of mechanical and civil engineers at the South Yorkshire site. Their expertise includes production design, fabrication, welding, electrical engineering, hydraulics, and computer numerical control machining.
The overriding responsibility of a Plater / Welder is to repair, manufacture, or modify plant and equipment to the required standard, as directed by the Fabrication Shop supervision.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Manufacture, modify, or repair to a technical drawing, sample, or instruction.
2. Progress the work/job on a routine basis, from initial inspection to final inspection, in line with the requirements stipulated by the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC).
3. Identify materials and tools as required for the job, ensuring continuity of the work.
4. Ensure estimated timed jobs and deadlines are met – this may involve extra working hours.
5. Ensure that any daily/weekly equipment checks are carried out when required and reported and documented accordingly.
6. Maintain good housekeeping standards in the workplace at all times.
7. Pass on your skills and knowledge to your colleagues.
8. Maintain good communication at all times with your supervisors, RWC, and colleagues.
9. Report to the supervision about any training needs.
Minimum Requirements:
1. City and Guilds / NVQ or equivalent in Welding and Fabrication; experience in manufacturing, modifying, or repairing plant and equipment to a technical drawing, sample, or instruction.
2. Coded welder qualification; fork lift truck operator.
3. Knowledge and experience in a similar role previously.
4. Health and Safety trained - CSCS card.
5. Ability to read technical drawings.
