The post holder will provide a high-quality reception service to patients attending outpatient clinics as well as maintaining an effective appointments system. Main duties will be to greet patients and arrange their further appointments as instructed by the clinical staff. You will be dealing with a wide range of enquiries on a face-to-face basis as well as over the telephone and you will obtain and update patient information using the main hospital computer system (CaMIS). The shifts are done on a monthly basis and are calculated by the team leader to ensure fair distribution on a rota basis. We manage several reception areas including the main reception desk, retinal therapy unit desk, appointments line x 2, fast track service, eye CAS desk, and low grange reception desk. All our services are located at James Cook Hospital except for the low grange reception desk which is located in South Bank, Middlesbrough.
Main Duties of the Job
Our ideal candidate will need excellent customer care skills to deal with all people in a pleasant, polite and effective manner. Computer skills are required, and you should have a good standard of numeracy and literacy. You must be able to think through problems using your own initiative. Commitment to work as part of a departmental team is very important. The workload is busy and physical, and you will be expected to work with speed and accuracy at all times.

* GCSE in Maths and English or Functional Skills (level 2) or equivalent experience
* NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent experience
