If you are Kind, Fair, Ingenious and Determined then we want you to come and join our #PennineCarePeople.
We have a new opportunity for you to join the Greater Manchester Assessment and In-reach Team in a development post. This is an eighteen-month development post where practitioners will work towards a Band 7 senior mental health practitioner role within the Assessment Centre.
You should be able to demonstrate relevant experience working with children and young people with mental health difficulties and evidence their skills in the assessment of risk. You should also have experience of working across agencies and developing holistic care plans. Knowledge of relevant legislation is preferred and a sound understanding of safeguarding processes is essential.
You will be enthusiastic, demonstrate a proactive approach to your work, engage in learning and development, and be passionate about working within crisis care. The assessment centre is committed to supporting the successful individual within a robust development framework and will offer appropriate support and regular supervision.
Main duties of the job
You will have the opportunity to make profound improvements in how crisis care is experienced by young people and those who care for them.
You will be working closely with our inpatient colleagues and have responsibility for managing the Single Point of Access for all Inpatient referrals for the GM population of 13-18 year old young people who are being considered for inpatient care.
This will involve working with CYP with a variety of mental health difficulties and diagnoses such as Psychosis, Bipolar Disorder, Emotional dysregulation, Schizophrenia, Depression/anxiety, LD, ASD, ADHD, PTSD, Conduct disorder, and Attachment difficulties.
You will also have the opportunity to work closely with external services such as social care, CAMHS, FCAMHS, CMHT, CEDS, EIT, and HTT to ensure the correct pathways are in place to support our CYP’s discharge from hospital.
As a member of the Greater Manchester Assessment and Inreach Centre, you will be at the heart of a well-funded, well-organised, hugely valued work-stream.
Working for our organisation
We are proud to provide high quality mental health and learning disability services, both inpatient and in the community across five boroughs of Greater Manchester - Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, and Tameside and Glossop.
Our vision is for a happier and more hopeful life for everyone in our communities and our staff work hard to deliver the very best care for the people who use our services. We’re really proud of our #PennineCarePeople and do everything we can to make sure we’re a great place to work.
All individuals regardless of race, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, religion or belief, marriage, and civil partnership are encouraged to apply for this post. We would also encourage applications from individuals with a lived experience of mental illness, either individually or as a carer.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post is advertised as a band 7. We encourage applications from practitioners who are currently working towards, but not necessarily meeting the full range of skills and competences for the band 7 role. If successful, you will be appointed under annex 21 of the NHS terms and conditions of service and you will be supported within your role by a development plan for 18 months.
Progress to complete learning requirements will be monitored throughout your fixed term contract, and failure to achieve these may result in a decision being made on your continued employment within this role. However, where there are evidenced extenuating circumstances outside of your control that mean you are unable to complete your programme by the end of the 18 months, the Trust will review your case and endeavour to support you in completing your studies where possible.
During the 18 months, payment will be 70% of the top rate of band 7 pay. Actual salary £35,039.20 per annum pro rata.
Following successful completion and successful attainment of skills and competences for the role, the postholder will then be paid at the full band 7 (minimum point on the scale following the usual pay steps).
Continued support and supervision will be provided to develop you to the band 7 role. This will be an excellent development opportunity for a band 6 looking for career development.
