The Role:
* The role of a Transport Officer is to provide supervisory support and assist in the operation and administration of the SEN and social care Transport service. This will include supervisory support to the Fleet and Transport Services Unit and supervision of transport staff, drivers and passenger assistants.
* As a Transport Officer, you will liaise or correspond with service users, schools, day centres and contractors regarding all aspects of service delivery, as well as taking ownership of and responding to queries and complaints from schools or service users both in writing, email and by phone.
* Officers process and evaluate applications for SEN travel support and arrange suitable travel support.
* You will need to make full and extensive preparations for routes to be exposed to competitive tender periodically by assisting the Specification writing and creating routes by day centre, school or other establishments on an ongoing basis, obtain quotations for new routes or services in accordance with procurement regulations along with undertaking risk assessments in respect to all aspects of the transport service and ensure compliance.
* The duties of a Transport Officer include generating orders using SAP, examining and authorising invoices and expenditure for goods and services.
* To manage staff including absences, maintain records, conduct return to work interviews and conduct investigations into accidents and staff conduct.
* To undertake any other professional duties which fall within the remit of the post as identified by and agreed with the Head of Service.
Hours will be on a flexible basis between 7:30am and 5:00pm based on the exigencies of the service to ensure the office is staffed accordingly.
