Job Title: Package Manager - Shell & Core (Natural History Museum, Reading)
Location: Reading, Thames Valley Science Park
Salary: £85,000 - £90,000 + package
A renowned Tier 1 Main Contractor is seeking an experienced Package Manager to oversee the shell and core delivery of an iconic new-build Natural History Museum in Reading. This £125M project will house 40 million exhibits relocated from the South Kensington Museum, featuring state-of-the-art collection spaces, offices, and laboratories.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the design, procurement, programme, and delivery of the shell & core package.
2. Manage subcontractor relationships, ensuring Morrisroe (RC frame subcontractor) and other key partners meet project milestones.
3. Oversee NEC Option A (fixed-price) D&B Stage 5 works, ensuring seamless progression from design to construction.
4. Work closely with the Project Lead, Jamie Mille (ex-Lendlease), and the wider team to ensure a smooth pre-construction and delivery phase.
5. Coordinate value-engineered amendments into the evolving design.
6. Drive programme delivery to meet key milestones, including:
1. April 2025: Enabling works start
2. June 2025: Main works commence
3. July/August 2025: Site setup and cabins in place
4. Q3 2027: Project completion
Requirements:
1. Proven experience managing shell & core on large-scale RC frame projects.
2. Strong understanding of NEC contracts and D&B two-stage processes.
3. Background in working with Tier 1 contractors on complex builds.
4. Excellent stakeholder management and ability to drive subcontractor performance.
5. Track record of delivering high-profile projects on time and within budget.
