This post within the Colorectal Surgery Department at the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is a new full-time post. The appointee will join the 8 other Consultants in Colorectal Surgery to augment the provision of specialist Colorectal services within the Trust.
The appointee will work closely with the team members including clinicians, specialist nurses, gastroenterologists, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists within the Trust. The department sits within the Surgical Health Group, which also includes Upper GI Surgery and Gastroenterology.
Main duties of the job
* To complement and enhance the service within the Colorectal Department;
* To contribute to management of acute admissions on the HRI site undertaking acute on-call;
* To contribute to the organisation and the development of services, focusing on rapid and effective diagnostic pathways in collaboration with colleagues in Gastroenterology, Upper GI Surgery, and Colorectal Surgery;
* To improve the quality of care and increase the scope for innovation;
* To support the service lead, clinicians, and other team members;
* To promote and participate in departmental research;
* To participate in training and supervision of specialist nurses & junior doctors;
* To contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education.
