We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Superintendent Radiographer to join the superintendent team. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with 3 other Superintendent Radiographers and the X-ray Manager to ensure the smooth running of the X-ray service at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
The X-ray team is very diverse and covers a wide variety of areas. The superintendents are the first line managers for the band 5 and 6 radiographers and are expected to be a source of knowledge and support. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential as the superintendents work with a wide variety of staff around the hospital to ensure that the patients' experiences while visiting the X-ray department is as positive as possible.
The Superintendent Radiographers are expected to promote and demonstrate the PROUD values within the X-ray team.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality, responsive diagnostic radiography service as part of a multi-disciplinary team, whilst maintaining a high standard of patient care. To ensure that safe practice is carried out in accordance with departmental protocols. To acquire and maintain an excellent level of skill & knowledge, in all aspects of radiography encountered within general imaging.
To manage the radiographic team, whilst encouraging and assisting them in their own professional development. To maintain positive professional links with other medical and non-medical staff to promote good service and standards within the radiographic specialty.
To take daily responsibility for, and direct, the organisation and work flow within all X-ray departments. To deputise for and liaise with the X-ray manager, to ensure there is continuity and communication within the specialty at all times.

Education and Qualifications
Essential
1. DCR or Bsc in Diagnostic Radiography
2. Teaching Coaching or Mentoring qualification
Desirable
1. HCPC registration and up to date portfolio
2. Post-graduate level study in radiography and/or qualification in management/ supervision
3. Completed an RPS course
Experience
Essential
1. Extensive post-graduate experience of both trauma and general radiography within an acute setting
2. Experience of using a range of digital radiographic and mobile fluoroscopic equipment
3. Experience at Senior 1/Band 6 Radiographer grade
4. Good knowledge of current national developments in medical imaging
5. Management/supervisory experience
6. Experience of maintaining safe working environments e.g. QA, infection control, fire safety
Desirable
1. Experience of audit and service improvement strategies
2. Evidence of implementing research based practice
3. Experience of writing SOP and/or clinical protocols
Skills and knowledge
Essential
1. Commitment to undertake ALL training requirements of the post
2. Experience using RIS, IMPAX and other NHS information systems
