Contract: Until 20/02/2025
Community Support Worker (Activities)
The Community Support Worker will play a key role in providing support to deaf, deafened, deafblind and hard of hearing people, including children and young people.
You will organise and run activities to promote greater participation within and outside our community. You will provide support through engagement with schools, community groups, and other relevant third sector organisations. You will be a positive role model to enable individuals to achieve their goals. There are numerous services and projects that Wakefield and District Society for Deaf People deliver, and you will be expected to support this work, contributing to our overall objectives and making a difference in our community.
As our Community Support Worker (Activities), you will provide a holistic approach to delivering social activities while promoting our services. You will work with schools, community groups, and other organisations in the community. Wakefield and District Society for Deaf People adopts a person-centred approach, which is critical to the work we deliver.
You will support individuals in meeting their social needs by organising and coordinating activities that improve confidence and wellbeing while reducing isolation. You will also make referrals within our organisation for the relevant support if necessary.
You will inspire and motivate others by sharing your own and others' personal experiences of deafness, both positive and negative, to achieve your goals. You will provide deaf representation at network events, assist social club volunteers with social activities as needed, deliver ad-hoc work elsewhere, and monitor the outcomes of this work and the individuals associated with our organisation.
