We are looking for a Nurse/Nursing Associate, AHP or Midwife who has experience of supporting nurses in the clinical environment, ideally teaching experience and excellent clinical skills. You will need to be able to provide feedback and demonstrate the ability to adapt your communication skills to the situation. In addition, you will be required to use your initiative to solve problems and prioritise your work, with the support of the lead nurse. Teaching skills in both a formal classroom and within the clinical area will be fundamental for this post.
Main duties of the job
Support the Band 7 Corporate Practice Development Nurses in:
The delivery/teaching of training programmes and supporting the wider teams
Understand and support those members ensuring equality and diversity
Provide ongoing support for the clinical staff and Pre Registration Learners
Encourage the concept of continual professional development through the delivery of competency and evidence-based programmes of education and training across the Trust.
Be involved in implementing and monitoring service change using plan, do, study, act (PDSA) cycle or equivalent tool.
Upholds and demonstrates the Trust values.
Support compliance with internal and external healthcare standards.
Act as a clinical role model, demonstrating supportive behaviours.

Job responsibilities
Key working relationships will be with the Professional Practice Development Team as a whole. Support our student learners within educational programmes provided by our higher education institutions. Working closely with clinical practice supporting our student learners. Our educational stakeholders and other relevant stakeholders relevant to the pre registration agenda.
There are two main workstreams within the Professional and Practice Development Team
The Talent Academy
This team encompasses the training and education and support for newly recruited healthcare assistants and completion of care certificate and any associated apprenticeships.
The second team supports all Nursing and Midwifery Students and some Allied Health Professions (AHP) professions. In liaison with clinical areas, the team provides practice placement opportunities and education to staff to support students in practice to receive a high-quality learning experience. This is viewed as critical to ensure we have registeredworkforce for the future.
Post Registration Academy
This team supports two work streams:
1. Supporting Internationally Educated Nurse and Midwifes to successfully complete the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) enabling this workforce to join the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) register. In addition, providing ongoing support through preceptorship and pastoral support.
2. Comprehensive Clinical Skills programme for staff to be trained on various clinical skills needed in practice. Utilising a range of online, digital and simulation equipment.
As a Band 6 in the Professional and Practice Development, the post holder would be expected to cover any of the work streams listed.
The Role is within the Pre Registration Team
Support the band 7, with the following -
The post holder is responsible for supporting the Pre-Registration Team in the delivery and support of PL@N (Practice Learning at Northampton)
Supporting pre-registration students in the clinical environment
Act as a supportive, professional role model and resource for staff & learners in practice, the classroom and external organisations
Liaise effectively and proactively with external organisations to maximise placements support and opportunities
The post holder will be able to problem solve using a collaborative approach
Design, teach and deliver sessions, to pre-registration students and Trust employees.
Supporting placement expansion
Attending meetings and Deputising for the Band 7
Ensure systems are in place to protect the service users, staff and students in clinical areas (includingPolice Clearance / DBS, Occupational Health, Risk Assessment and Quality Monitoring)
Work with colleagues and service users, to identify the changing needs of the local population.
To promote practices and placements that are dynamic, efficient, innovative and continuously improved in its relevance and responsiveness to the needs of the local population.
Maintain contemporaneous records relating to any incident that occurs
Provide advice and guidance for clinical managers to enable them to provide suitable learning environments and appropriately prepared mentors/assessors and coaches /supervisors.
Offer advice and support to clinicians undertaking the mentorship / assessor role
Work to increase the number of mentors/assessors that have the appropriate qualifications for supporting students as defined by the professional bodies
Actively participate in education network meetings and development activities. Network with people in similar posts to widen support and sharing best practice
Promote positive communications that enhance the quality of clinical learning and promote a seamless interface with Higher Education Institutions
Provide advice in relation to the care of an individual, or groups of students or mentors/assessors. This will be achieved by providing advice on a regular basis
Effectively manage own time to ensure a balance between clinical and administrative duties
Support the promotion and maintenance of a departmental culture which promotes an open and honest approach to professional decision making and problem solving
