As an RSW, you will be responsible for assisting and supporting young people in their day-to-day life. You will attend to their practical, physical, and emotional needs, act as a role model, and help them work through their difficulties to reach their goals and ambitions.
Some of the duties could include:
* High quality of care and support for children and young people.
* Working within the guidelines from the 1989 Children’s Act, National Minimum Standards, Every Child Matters, and other relevant legislation.
* Create a nurturing, supportive, and caring environment in which children feel safe and secure.
* Establish positive relationships with the children and young people.
* Ensure care plans are followed and up to date.
* Attend to practical matters related to childcare such as cooking, cleaning, and general maintenance around the home.
* Act as a key worker for young people and children to ensure plans are met and current.
* Provide emotional support during times of difficulty or stress.
* Encourage young people to achieve their goals.
* Support with educational needs and extracurricular activities, including classroom assistance if needed.
* Advocate at meetings where the young person is the subject of discussion.
* Manage challenging behavior.

Some of the skills/requirements include:
* Minimum 1 year of care experience (preferably working with children and young people) in the UK, within the last 2 years.
