Their work in prison education is designed to help learners gain functional skills in Maths and English, preparing them for employment, further learning, and personal growth. As a Prison Functional Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering Maths & English up to Level 2, ensuring that learners gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to achieve their goals. Key Responsibilities: · Deliver Functional Skills Maths & English up to Level 2 in a prison-based setting. · Engage and motivate learners through innovative teaching methods. · Develop individual learning plans to support learner progression and aspirations. · Provide advice and guidance, ensuring a high-quality learning experience. · Monitor learner progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse needs. · Maintain a positive learning environment, supporting behaviour management strategies. Essential/Desirable Criteria: Essential: · Level 3 qualification in Maths & English (or equivalent). · Substantial experience in your field, demonstrating subject expertise. · Experience delivering training, ideally within a classroom or learning environment. · Ability to engage learners using a range of training methods. · Excellent communication and motivational skills. Desirable: · Teaching or Assessing qualification (e.g., PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, AET, CET, DET, QTLS). · Experience working in a custodial or community setting. · Understanding of diverse learner needs and behavioural support strategies.
