Inspect relevant equipment used and ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards at all times. Visually and verbally risk-assess every patient prior to carrying out any clinical investigation. Prepare, perform and interpret Electrocardiogramson all categories of patients and immediately inform a senior member of staff or the relevant Physician of any adverse abnormalities regarding the patient or Electrocardiogram. As per departmental protocols. Set up and remove 24 hour ambulatory monitors & event recorders on in and out patients. To give clear instructions to the patient in the use of the equipment and how to complete a 24 hour diary sheet. Participate in the teaching and training (to agreed National standards) of junior members of staff within the department and other Medical and Nursing personnel. Receive and report verbal and written communication, including responding to a bleep, answering the telephone, taking messages and keeping records for the departmental database. Assist with maintaining daily records and statistics of clinical activity. Perform minor maintenance and clean relevant recording equipment. Undergo training when required to keep up to date with new equipment and technology. Report any untoward events or uncertainties to a senior member of staff Produce technically satisfactory results in accordance with National and Departmental standards.
