The Role We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate EYFS Teacher to join our specialist provision. You will be responsible for delivering a highly individualised curriculum to young children with PMLD and SLD. This role requires creativity, patience, and the ability to create a sensory-rich learning environment that supports the development of communication, physical, and social skills. You will work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to ensure each child's needs are met. Main Responsibilities -Plan and deliver engaging, sensory-based learning experiences tailored to the needs of children with PMLD and SLD. -Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes exploration, communication, and development. -Use a range of communication methods, including Makaton, PECS, and sensory cues, to support children's understanding and expression. -Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals. -Track and assess each child's progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet their evolving needs. -Support children with personal care, feeding, and mobility needs as required. -Engage with parents and carers to share progress and develop consistent approaches to learning and care. Essential Criteria Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Experience teaching nursery or reception. Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework. Knowledge and understanding of PMLD and SLD. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the holistic development of each child. Desirable Criteria Previous experience working in a special school. Training in Makaton, PECS, or other communication systems. Knowledge of sensory integration strategies and approaches.
