WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
1. Design, develop and evaluate components and assemblies from concept to mass production for new models, ensuring they comply with the customer requirements and liaising with other areas of R&D to ensure this is fulfilled.
2. Critically evaluate design proposals and participate in peer review meetings. Develop test procedures to validate designs. Study EMC & Signal Integrity issues, identify, and eliminate design problems before sample stages.
3. Work with other teams to deliver the product(s) into production; liaise with other teams/customers/suppliers to work towards a common goal, providing technical support and communication of activities.
4. Provide evidence that the relevant customer, Panasonic, regional EN), and general product safety directives are considered where appropriate.
5. Apply technical knowledge to investigate, identify, and implement countermeasures and improvements to resolve issues and coordinate development issues; including evaluation failures and changes in requirements.
6. Manage the delivery of electrical / electronic systems at trial stages, and into production; manage the development as a project – controlling and monitoring the costs, quality of designs, risks, and progress throughout the project.
7. Consider historic problems and endeavour to eradicate them from future designs.
8. Ensure development builds are according to agreed schedules. Supporting with components and assembly house queries.
9. Support the Project Leader to ensure cost requirements for electrical / electronic aspects of developments are available when required including samples costs, mass production parts, and tooling cost.
10. Support the Project Leader to create and maintain project plans / schedules for electrical / electronic aspects of developments.
11. Support the Project and Team Leader to ensure relevant project based AQ and R&D documents (NCL, schedule table, BOMs, etc.) are completed in line with the required processes.
12. Provide information for the weekly project update (issued to PMUK management), providing updates on any new or ongoing issues, including appropriate responses and actions being taken.
13. Provide necessary information for technical and strategic meetings and attend and contribute to the relevant development meetings, both internal and external.
14. Consider and research new technology to improve and implement new R&D systems / processes, ensuring efficient product development and future improvement to product development.
15. Mentor and support junior members of the Electrical / Electronic team with the technical aspect of their work.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
16. Degree level qualification in Electrical / Electronic Engineering plus 3 years relevant industry experience, or at least 5 years relevant industry experience in a similar role.
17. Electrical and EMC testing in a design environment and of fault finding to component level.
18. PCB design tools (Zuken CR0 preferably) and Circuit simulation tools.
19. Analogue / Digital Design.
20. Design for Manufacturing - Experience in designing electronics circuits and taking the design from concept to mass production.
21. Dealing with sub-contractor assembly houses.
22. Design for EMC / ESD and noisy environments.
23. Knowledge of project management processes.
24. Soldering and de-soldering (including surface mount components).
25. Excellent knowledge of electrical and electronic circuit theory.
26. Hands on experience of using electrical and electronic test equipment and tools.
27. Must be an effective team player with a flexible attitude and good communication skills.
28. Self-starting with good initiative and able to demonstrate a methodical approach to tasks, with a view to developing own ideas and solutions.
29. High level problem solving skills with the ability to efficiently resolve technical issues.
30. This role will involve some physical manual handling.
31. Must have a valid driving license.
32. Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel internationally.
