Main duties of the job
The Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital is located on the Royal Sussex County Hospital site in Brighton. We are a 10 Bedded level 2 Children's Critical Care Unit, where we care for both medical and surgical patients, Children requiring long term ventilation and also acute non invasive ventilation. We have the lowest Intubation rate in Europe for children with Bronchiolitis. This is your opportunity to work within the Children's Critical Care unit, for a Fixed Term of 12 Months you will be responsible for the shift by shift running of the unit whilst providing excellent nursing care. You will work closely with the Ward Manager and other senior nurses within the Children's Hospital. We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic, energetic children's nurse with a skill for prioritising, delivering and organising patient care. You will have a proactive and positive approach, with evidence of excellent clinical, teaching, managerial and inter-personal skills to lead, work alongside and motivate our multi-disciplinary team. You will be supported by our critical care educators who run a Level 2 children's critical course. Given the focus of this post, it is essential that you are a registered children's nurse that has experience of either PICU or HDU Care.
Applicants must be available to commence post from May/June and be available for the following 12 months.
