Bolton Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) Service has a vacancy for an experienced Mental Health Practitioner to work alongside our established Multi-disciplinary team. The ASC team provides post-diagnostic support to people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) without Learning Disabilities.
The ASC service is part of the Bolton Directorate, which provides integrated mental health and social care services, both in the community and in inpatient settings.
The successful person will be required to undertake a range of activities to deliver the care pathways for the client group. This will include report writing, short-term case management, a period of 1:1 interventions, and delivery of our group programme. There are opportunities to gain a broad range of experience and to develop clinical and teaching skills.
Essential requirements for the post include experience of working with Adults with ASC, a relevant professional qualification (e.g., Nursing, Social Work, O.T., or Speech and Language therapy), high-level communication skills, capacity to work productively in a demanding environment, and a willingness to undergo further appropriate training.
Desirable qualities include experience of working with complex clients, experience of planning and delivering therapeutic group work, and a high standard of report writing.
Main duties of the job
Under the line management and clinical leadership from within Bolton Autism Spectrum Conditions service, the post holder will provide post-diagnostic interventions to service users. They will co-ordinate timely and appropriate interventions using the skills of their core profession for a caseload of service users. Interventions will be carried out in line with relevant clinical pathways as outlined within the service’s operational procedure.
This includes respecting the individuality, values, culture, and religious diversity of clients and colleagues, thus contributing to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.

Qualifications
* Professional qualification in a relevant health profession (e.g., Mental Health Nursing, Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy).
* Evidence of ongoing learning and development as part of revalidation/registration process.
Experience
* Significant post-registration experience in their profession.
* Relevant clinical experience of working with Autistic adults.
* Experience of working autonomously and able to set own priorities in a demanding environment.
* Experience of effective multi-disciplinary team working.
* Experience of working within a community setting.
* Experience of working in a specialist ASC team.
Knowledge
* Good understanding of Autism and the potential implications this diagnosis can have.
* Evidence of continued professional development in accordance with the requirements of the registering body for their profession.
* Experience in receiving Clinical Supervision.
* Demonstrated ability to use initiative to deal with situations which may occur.
* Experience of supervising other staff.
Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrate up-to-date clinical & professional practice and expertise via the delivery of appropriate interventions.
* Demonstrate the ability to identify the mental and physical health needs and social care needs of service users in order to provide support and signposting to relevant services.
* Demonstrate the ability to risk assess service users to plan, deliver, and evaluate care and treatment based on the outcome of assessments using Trust and Local policies and procedures in relation to the Care Programme Approach (CPA).
* Experience working within a community-based mental health team (CMHT) or on an inpatient MH ward.
Other
* Frequent requirement to travel mainly within the Bolton area to undertake main duties and occasional travel across the Trust's footprint to attend relevant meetings and events.
* Understand the need to safeguard children and vulnerable adults.
