ALN Teaching Assistant At Teaching Personnel, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate teaching assistant to support students on a 1:1, 2:1, and small group basis (up to 5 children) in our special educational needs (SEN) schools. We are looking for a committed, driven, and positive individual who is confident in meeting the needs and expectations of this important role. You will be working with children who have a range of complex needs, including behavioural challenges, ASD, ADHD, trauma, SEMH, and more. Additionally, you will be required to accompany students on off-site activities, which may include sports, outdoor activities, trips, and other events. If you are passionate about helping young learners overcome barriers to their education and are dedicated to supporting them in their journey back to mainstream education, we encourage you to apply Role Details Jobe Title: ALN Teaching Assistant Sector: SEN Job Type: Full Time Start Date: 06/01/2025 Location: Swansea (SA2) Schedule: Monday to Friday (8:30am – 3:30pm) Key Responsibilities - Safeguarding children - Work on a 1:1, 2:1 basis and in small groups supporting the individual in and out of the classroom, this includes off-site activities - Assist in developing and implementing individualised interventions and strategies. - Monitor pupils behaviour, promote positive behaviour and emotional resilience - Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to adapt lesson content and create an inclusive and supportive learning environment - Support individual during unstructured times such as lunch and break times. - Encourage social interaction with other pupils - Build positive relationships with the individual and other pupils whilst acting as a role model and building trust. Requirements - Minimum of GCSE’s in English and Mathematics - Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential - Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to pass enhanced DBS checks. - Driving Licence ( not essential but preferred) What We Are Looking For - Previous experience working with complex additional learning needs preferably in an education or care setting - A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to working with the individual - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff - Positive attitude, excellent work ethic, and a proactive approach to problem solving - Ability to deal with challenging behaviour and seek support when required - Commitment and desire get the pupils back to mainstream education All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
